Comparison of Lee Top Carrier Boards for NVIDIA® Jetson Orin™ AGX Modules

Introduction

NVIDIA® Jetson Orin™ AGX modules are powerful and versatile platforms for edge AI applications. They feature the NVIDIA Orin SoC, which combines 12 Arm Cortex-A78AE CPU cores, 2 NVIDIA NVDLA deep learning accelerators, and a 256-core NVIDIA Ampere GPU. The modules also support up to 64 GB of LPDDR5 memory and 16 lanes of PCIe Gen 4.

However, to make the most of these modules, you need a suitable carrier board that provides the necessary interfaces and features for your specific use case. In this blog post, we will compare two carrier boards from Lee Top that are designed for NVIDIA Jetson Orin AGX modules: the A680 and the A605.

A680 carrier board for NVIDIA® Jetson Orin™

The A680 carrier board is a high-performance, interface-rich carrier board that offers 1 HDMI 2.0, 1 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet port, 1 10 Gbit/s Ethernet port, 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB Type-C 3.0, M.2 Key E (2230 size), M.2 Key M (2280 size), RS485 and RS232, GPIO, PCI, fan, and other abundant peripheral interfaces. It also includes a 120-pin high-speed connector for connecting MIPI SerDes cameras, such as GMSL2/FPD-link III/V-by-One® HS, to deploy in AMRs applications. The A680 carrier board supports operating temperatures from -25°C to 85°C and has a dimension of 141.5 mm x 133.5 mm x 29 mm.

The A680 carrier board is ideal for applications that require high-performance computing, high-bandwidth networking, and multiple camera inputs. For example, it can be used for smart security, smart inspection, autonomous robots, and other edge AI scenarios.

A605 carrier board for AGX Orin

The A605 carrier board is a cost-effective, compact carrier board that offers 1 HDMI 2.0, 1 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet port, 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB Type-C 3.0, M.2 Key E (2230 size), M.2 Key M (2280 size), RS485 and RS232, GPIO, and fan interfaces. It also supports a micro SD card slot and a micro SIM socket. The A605 carrier board supports operating temperatures from -40°C to 85°C and has a dimension of 100 mm x 87 mm x 29 mm.

The A605 carrier board is suitable for applications that require low power consumption, small form factor, and basic features. For example, it can be used for smart home, smart retail, smart agriculture, and other edge AI scenarios.

Conclusion

Both the A680 and the A605 carrier boards are compatible with NVIDIA Jetson Orin AGX modules and can enable various edge AI applications. However, depending on your specific needs and budget, you may prefer one over the other. The A680 carrier board offers more interfaces and features, but also costs more and consumes more power. The A605 carrier board offers less interfaces and features, but also costs less and consumes less power. Therefore, you should carefully consider your requirements and choose the carrier board that best suits your project.
